Apple Pay is very secure. You’re protected through your Apple device’s security settings (i.e. Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode) on every transaction.
Which Apple devices are compatible with Apple Pay?
Apple Pay works with:
- iPhone SE (and later versions) in stores, within apps, and on the web in Safari
- iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, and iPad mini 3 (and later versions) within apps and on the web in Safari

// .support .apple .com /en -au /HT208531 Where can I use Apple Pay?
You can use Apple Pay wherever contactless payments are accepted – in stores, within selected apps and on participating websites.
My Hume Bank Visa debit card in Apple Pay has changed and I no longer have the option to select the payment network (Visa and Eftpos). Is this an error?
No, merchants will now select the network in which they wish to route transactions. You can still use Apple Pay the same way you always have by double clicking the side button and authenticating with Touch ID, Face ID or passcode.
How can I check is my Hume Bank visa debit card in Apple Pay supports both visa and Eftpos payment networks?
You can determine whether your dual network debit card supports both networks by:
On iPhone
- Open the Wallet app.
- Tap on your card.
- Tap the More button (three dots)
- Tap Card Number
Within the ‘Card Number’ section, if you see Visa and Eftpos network, then the card supports both networks.
On Apple Watch
- Open the Wallet app.
- Select the dual network debit card
- Tap ‘Card Details’
After following the above steps, if you see Eftpos and Visa then the card supports both networks.

Terms and Conditions
Apple Pay allows you and additional cardholders to make payment transactions using a Hume Bank Visa Debit or Credit Card card loaded onto a compatible Apple device and registered with Apple Pay at participating merchants. For a list of compatible Apple Pay devices, see support.apple.com/en-au/km207105.
Apple Pay provides you with an additional way to transact on your linked account.
Hume Bank Apple Pay Terms and Conditions apply each time a Hume Bank card registered on Apple Pay is used.
1. Agreement to these Terms and Conditions
You agree that you accept these Terms and Conditions by adding your Card to Apple Pay.
These Terms and Conditions apply in addition to:
- Hume Bank’s Digital Wallet Terms & Conditions;
- Relevant Account Terms and Conditions available in Hume Bank’s Product Disclosure Statement;
- Fees & Charges – Personal Credit Cards;
- Terms, Conditions, Fees & Charges for Hume Bank’s Visa Debit Card; and/or
- Conditions of Use – Personal and Business Credit Cards.
2. Apple Pay provided by Apple
Apple Pay is provided by Apple, not by Hume Bank.
Hume Bank is not liable for the use, functionality or availability of Apple Pay, any Apple Device or any disruption caused from the availability of contactless merchant terminals or reduced service levels caused by the failure of telecommunications networks.
You must agree to Apple’s terms and conditions in order to register and use Apple Pay.
3. Using your Hume Bank Card with Apple Pay
Your card can be registered with Apple Pay to make contactless payments at participating retailers and online merchants.
To add your card, you must follow the procedures provided by Hume Bank. In doing so, we may require you to adequately identify yourself via a variety of mechanisms to authenticate your request to register your card with Apple Pay. If we cannot authenticate your request to our satisfaction or if we suspect that there may be attempted fraud, we may decline the request to add your card to Apple Pay.
Once your card is registered with Apple Pay, you can use your Apple Device and its security settings (such as passcode or biometric data) to authorise transactions on your account.
You will need to select your Hume Bank card as the default card in your Digital Wallet to ensure your card is used to complete a transaction.
The transaction limits that apply to your Card do not change as a result of adding it to Apple Pay.
When you add an eligible dual-network debit card to Apple Pay, Visa is the default payment network that processes your transactions from your debit account. If you have an eftpos Savings account and want to set one as your default instead of Visa, you can change it on your iPhone or Apple Watch.
When using a dual network debit card with Apple Pay, depending on which networks are available to you, you may be able to select either the Visa or eftpos network to process your payment. When using Apple Pay online eftpos may not be available for Apple Pay payments within apps or on the internet when using the Safari browser.
Apple Pay may not work when the Apple Device is not within range of a cellular or wireless internet connection. If the Apple Device has not had a cellular or wireless internet connection for an extended time, there may be a delay before Apple Pay works once reconnected.
Apple Pay may not be accepted outside of Australia, or at all places where your Hume Bank Card is accepted.
4. Suspension or Termination of Apple Pay
Hume Bank may suspend or terminate your use of Apple Pay if:
- your card is cancelled, blocked or suspended;
- you breach these Terms and Conditions, or the Terms and Conditions listed under Clause 1.
- we, Apple or a card network provider reasonably suspects fraud;
- if we are required to do so under any legislation or law, or if required to by a regulatory or government body;
- if our arrangements with Apple regarding Apple Pay cease or are suspended; and
for any other reason we deem appropriate.
You must tell us straight away if:
your card or Apple Device has been lost or stolen; or
you suspect someone else has used your account without your permission or may have access to your Apple device or know your security credentials.
You must immediately unlink your card from Apple Pay if your supported Apple device is stolen or lost.
You can also ensure that your registered card cannot be used with Apple Pay on your Apple Device by:
- signing out of iCloud
- undertaking a full restore and backup of your Apple Device;
- removing your Passcode, fingerprint recognition or other unlock methods from your Apple Device; or
- erasing your Apple Device on Apple “Find My iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac”.
If your Hume Bank Visa Card registered with Apple Pay is lost or stolen, you will still be able to transact using Apple Pay while you wait for your new card. If you wish to stop transactions using Apple Pay (e.g. when your Apple Device is also lost or stolen) you must notify Hume Bank so that Hume Bank can remove the Hume Bank Visa Card from active status in Apple Pay. A Hume Bank Visa Card loaded in your Apple Pay that has a lost or stolen status will be automatically updated to the new card number once it has been activated.
5. Data Collection and Privacy
You agree that we may exchange information with Apple and card scheme networks (i.e. Visa or eftpos), related to the set up and use of Apple Pay. By using Apple Pay you agree that:
- Apple can provide us with information, such as your Apple device details, for purposes including providing customer support, detecting and managing fraud, and to comply with applicable laws and regulations.

- Hume Bank’s privacy policy (available at humebank.com.au/privacy) provides further details regarding the collection and handling of your information.
We are not liable for any losses you may incur, injury or harm you may suffer as a result of the Apple Pay or a card scheme network’s use of your information. Should you not want to share this information, do not register your Hume Bank card in a digital wallet.
6. Hume Bank’s Liability
Hume Bank will not be liable for any loss arising from your use of Apple Pay to the extent the loss was caused by:
- Your fraud;
- Your failure to adequately secure your device, or protect any passcode used to access your device;
- Your use of Apple Pay or the Apple Device in a manner not permitted by Apple (for example, by obtaining root access to your Apple Device); or
- Subject to your rights under the ePayments Code, a reduced level of service caused by matters beyond our reasonable control (for example, those caused by third party software and network providers).
If you fail to comply with any of the requirements stated in this clause, you are taken to have authorised any transaction made using Apple Pay on your Apple Device and the transaction cannot be deemed as an unauthorised transaction.
7. Changes to Terms

You acknowledge that we may contact you electronically regarding changes to these terms or this service (e.g. via SMS, email, notifications in app), and that this is considered written notice for the purpose of these terms. You agree to any such amendments by continuing to keep a Hume Bank card in a Digital Wallet.
