About the role
As the Banking Payments Manager at Hume Bank, you will lead our payments ecosystem, ensuring seamless, secure, and efficient transaction processing whilst keeping us ahead of the curve.
Leading a dedicated team, you will oversee the daily integrity of our customer’s payment flows ensuring real-time payments, direct debits, credit card payments, and digital banking transactions are processed securely, accurately, and efficiently while meeting regulatory requirements.
As a key support to the Finance Team, you will manage payment processing, and reconciliation tasks while serving as a point of contact for payment investigations and queries. You will also monitor key performance metrics, leveraging insights to drive process improvements and automation initiatives that enhance operational efficiency.
This will be pivotal in driving the reliability and sustainability of Hume Bank’s payments operations while contributing to our broader strategic objectives.
What you can expect
- Payments Processing & Reconciliation: Manage and streamline daily payment transactions to ensure accuracy and efficiency across the payment ecosystem.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all payments adhere to regulations and industry standards, safeguarding the bank’s operations.
- Innovate payments: Leverage data to drive process improvements, automation, and cost-saving initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
- Stakeholder Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, vendors, and partner banks.
- Primary Point of Contact: Serve as the go-to expert for all payment-related inquiries and escalations.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CA/CPA qualified or working towards).
- Experience in real-time payment processing or financial control, preferably within banking or financial services.
- Strong knowledge of payment systems, processes, and reconciliation frameworks.
- Leadership skills that inspire and drive team performance.
- Analytical thinking with a focus on process improvement and problem-solving.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management capabilities.

This is a full-time permanent position based at our Head Office in Albury, NSW. Flexible working arrangements, such as Working from Home are available when residing in the Albury area.

Our process
- Once the role is closed, we review all applications against the requirements, creating a shortlist for further review.
- If your application is successful, you may receive an initial screening call to further assess your suitability, before being invited to an interview.
- We conduct two rounds of interviews, with the first interview being held with the reporting manager and a member of our People Team. You may be invited back to a shorter second-round interview with the head of the department.
- The final stage is to complete some quick compliance checks, before (hopefully) receiving an offer.
