About the role

At Hume Bank, we’re a dedicated team committed to growing and strengthening our broker lending network, within our local home market. We’re looking for an enthusiastic Broker Business Development Manager to help us achieve this vision.

This role offers a unique blend of lending and business development, with a clear pathway to transitioning into a full-time business development focus over time. You’ll play a key role in expanding our broker partnerships, identifying growth opportunities, and delivering an outstanding customer experience.

As Broker Business Development Manager at Hume Bank, you will work to achieve annual team targets, grow and retain the existing customer base and referral networks, and be an ambassador for Hume Bank across the region.

As a key focus for this position is expanding our home market, the role is based at our Head Office in Albury, NSW.

What you can expect

  • Develop and grow strong broker relationships and generate new opportunities within the broker network.
  • Develop and execute business development plans to exceed annual sales targets in Home Market, while aligning with market opportunities across each LGA.
  • Understand the needs of Home Market brokers and tailor solutions to achieve optimal outcomes for the broker, customer, and the bank.
  • Engage with brokers and oversee the loan application process, ensuring loan applications are complete and accurate according to Hume Bank’s policies, procedures, guidelines, and government legislation.
  • It is anticipated that this role will deliver approximately a 50% capacity of a full-time lender and allow for 50% business development in the first year, and transition to a full-time business development role over time.

About you

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • At least 5 years of previous experience in a similar role
  • Good understanding of broker needs and local broker networks
  • Knowledge of Responsible Lending requirements
  • Ability to read, analyse, and interpret loan applications, financial statements of income and expenses, financial family trees, Cash Flows analysis, and other related loan documents
  • Demonstrated evidence of business acumen, analytical, problem-solving, and coaching skills
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder relationship management skills
  • FSR Tier 2 Certificate
  • Qualifications in business preferred

Our process

  • Once the role is closed, we review all applications against the requirements, creating a shortlist for further review.
  • If your application is successful, you may receive an initial screening call to further assess your suitability, before being invited to an interview.
  • We conduct two rounds of interviews, with the first interview being held with the supervisor and a member of our People Team. You may be invited back to a shorter second round interview with the head of the department.
  • The final stage is to compete some quick compliance checks, before (hopefully) receiving an offer.
