Festive Food Drive

Give the gift of nutrition this Christmas

The festive season is almost upon us once again, where we spend time with the ones we love and share what we have. But for too many, this Christmas will be without any of the trimmings. That’s where our festive food drive comes in.

At Hume Bank, we are passionate about doing all we can to address the big issues affecting people in our communities; and in our region having enough food is a problem. In fact, on any given day at least 2,200 local people need food assistance.

So, this festive season, we’re doing something about it. Until Christmas Eve, we are running a food drive. We’re asking our community members to drop off non-perishable food items to a selection of our branches for people in need.

We’re always happy to throw our support behind local organisations doing wonderful things. So, we’re delighted to partner with Border Trust to source much needed food which will then be distributed by Albury Wodonga Regional FoodShare (AWRFS) in time for Christmas. AWRFS distributes food from Corryong to Culcairn, down to Wangaratta and everywhere in between either through their community pantry (direct to the public) or through other service agencies such as Uniting Care and Corowa Food Bowl.

And Wagga doesn’t miss out. Just drop your non-perishable food items to our Baylis Street branch and it will be donated to Carevan Wagga Wagga Inc, a not-for-profit who do a great job tackling food insecurity, social isolation and disadvantage in their neck of the woods. Carevan will take all donations and cook nutritious meals for those in need, distributing via their community dinners or through their service or through their service providers including Vinnies, Salvos, Mission Australia, Wellways and Baptist Care.

The team at Hume Bank is also directly supporting the food drive, either by giving items to the drive or volunteering with AWRFS. So, it’s a whole community effort with staff, customers, partner organisations and other generous locals all coming together to share in the Christmas spirit of giving through food.

If you’re not able to drop your gift of non-perishable food or cash donation into one of our branches but would still like to throw your support behind AWRFS, you can donate via iBank to:
