The position

As the Head of Impact at Hume Bank, you’ll be empowered to make a real difference by leading the development and implementation of our impact strategy. This role is pivotal in bringing our purpose to life, ensuring we address customer, and community needs whilst fostering innovative solutions that generate shared value.

The main focus of this role will be to help Hume Bank create a shared value driven organisation, one that has a positive environmental, economic, human, and social impact. As part of this you will be responsible for advancing our ESG credentials and the continued monitoring and reporting on relevant Sustainability frameworks. Create a better and brighter future for our customers and community by championing the balance of financial, natural, and social capital across Hume Bank.

The successful candidate will provide leadership and influence for best practice and be across emerging developments in efficient and effective ways to generate shared value across various forms of capital. Working closely with our Executive Leadership team to help develop and recommend appropriate shared value initiatives, embedding shared value into our culture, thinking and decision-making.

This is a full-time permanent position based at our Head Office in Albury, NSW and would suit a dynamic, enthusiastic leader who can identify and implement new initiatives, someone who can adopt a pragmatic approach and who has a passion for creating a better and brighter future for our customers and community.

Your key responsibilities will include

  • Impact strategy development including positioning, stakeholder mapping, materiality analysis, framework input, benchmarking, and roadmaps
  • Impact communications including report writing, narrative positioning, and message development
  • ESG management including rating agencies and external stakeholders
  • Work in collaboration with the Executive team to understand the corporate sustainability and impact model of Hume Bank and future aspirations to achieve this.
  • Identify and understand key customer and community needs through research, analysis, and consultation
  • Supporting the development and governance of our Community Impact Fund to advance both natural and social capital impact in our home markets.
  • Work with the CEO and Executive team to deliver a strategy for the Community Impact Fund and a 5-year plan for implementation

We want to hear from you if you have

  • Relevant qualifications in an area of expertise, such as Master of Sustainable Development, Bachelor of Environment Science & Management, Bachelor of Arts in Sustainable Development or similar
  • Experienced in a professional sustainability or impact-related role, combined with a strong and up to date theoretical understanding of sustainability.
  • Previous experience, understanding, and active participation in various sustainability programs
  • Experience in cross functional leadership of key stakeholders, with excellent written, verbal communication and influencing skills
  • Strong data management, budgeting, and sustainability reporting skills, including the ability to develop
  • Ability to build personal and organisational credibility and build beneficial internal and external relationships
  • Ability to oversee a project or strategic delivery, over an extensive period of time, with key milestones

Our process

  • Once the role is closed, we review all applications against the requirements, creating a shortlist for further review.
  • If your application is successful, you may receive an initial screening call to further assess your suitability, before being invited to an interview.
  • We conduct two rounds of interviews, with the first interview being held with the supervisor and a member of our People Team. You may be invited back to a shorter second round interview with the head of the department.
  • The final stage is to compete some quick compliance checks, before (hopefully) receiving an offer.
