Hume Bank in the community

Volunteers make a difference

As a customer-owned organisation, since we began Hume Bank has committed to having
a positive impact on the communities we serve.

And as active members of our communities, our staff love to help make a genuine difference in the lives of other locals. In May, we became a corporate volunteer partner with Albury Wodonga Regional FoodShare (AWRF) with three Hume Bank employees volunteering on the last Friday of each month to sort and deliver food donations to people in need. It is affectionately now known as Hume Bank Fridays.

One of the first team members to volunteer, Project Coordinator Leanne, said it was mind blowing to be part of the amazing work AWRF does. “I left feeling like I had done something really good for the community I live and work in.”

Addressing the increasing costs of food, AWRF recently opened its Community Pantry in Wodonga. The pantry will mean people can purchase the individual food and household supplies they need, rather than receiving pre-made hampers that include items that may go to waste. We love your work AWRF!

Every bit counts

While we’re proud of our culture of giving back, we are also very lucky to have a team of individuals who genuinely believe in doing their bit. Did you know Hume Bank staff regularly volunteer for Meals on Wheels and donate blood as part of our Lifeblood team? Many staff also took part in the May 50K Challenge to support research into the prevention, treatment and finding a cure for multiple sclerosis, including our Contact Centre Manager Ethan who said, “It was heart-warming to see my colleagues all come together to support such a worthy cause and one that is very close to my heart.” Our team completed 50km of exercise and together raised $3,379. Well done team.
